Chapter 9: Weed Management Strategies

9.3 Weed Management Strategies – Eradication

2. Eradication

With weed eradication, the goal is to completely eliminate all of the weed population’s plants and seeds in a certain area.  Normally eradication is not a sustainable goal for most weed challenges in field crops and pasture lands.  However, this would be the case in situations such as agricultural fields where you have small patches of invasive weeds or herbicide resistant weeds that need to be completely removed.  In other circumstances such as greenhouses, gardens, lawns, golf course greens, etc., eradication is possible and often is the goal.
