Weeds can be devastating to crop yields and significantly reduce a farmer’s profit margins. So far in this book, we have reviewed some basic plant biology, including how weeds reproduce and when they are designated as “noxious”. We have also discussed some basic principles that help guide producers when making weed management plans, including the critical period of weed control. Now we will begin to explore key components of weed management plans that research studies are indicating as being effective and sustainable.
