Social media usage in Brazil – statistics & facts

An important issue to Brazil that I chose to illustrate was the subject of social network usage across the country of Brazil. I wished to find out the degree of use within the country and its projected rate in future years. The data visualization that I chose to utilize was a dot-plot chart because it is able to capture the relative position of the country’s population within a year, while also showing its relation to subsequent years. The supporting data table I have is below, drawn from the source I chose to use from Statista:

The visualization I created was by using DataWrapper, which allowed me to create visualization by filling out data from a dataset. I found that the number of users on social media in Brazil was increasing, and I wanted to find a way to represent that. I felt that the vertical bar graphs lacked in the aspect of relativity, and I believe that using a dot plot helps readers to see the positioning of Brazil year by year.
