While the English Wikipedia is huge with more than 6,400,000 articles in 2014 already, let’s take a closer look at the Wikipedia’s use in Hong Kong (China). The censorship of Wikipedia in Hong Kong is very strict since it is currently blocked as shown on this map from the Censorship of Wikipedia webpage.
As a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong (China) has highly restricted censorship of Wikipedia with limited access, and the Wikipedia in Hong Kong is also very less likely to be considered as a ‘well-regarded’ information source in Hong Kong. However, it is worth notice that the majority of Wikipedia users in China are from Hong Kong and Taiwan, recorded to Wikimedia Statistics, in January 2021. And it is hard to measure the exact number of viewers and editors in Hong Kong.
On the webpage of the Hong Kong-Wikipedia, we can see that there are many and wide covered contents, including etymology of Hong Kong, Hong Kong history, government and politics, geography, demographics, economy, infrastructure, culture, education, and Hong Kong medias. Anyone, from all over the world, can edit the information about Hong Kong on Wikipedia.
