5 Country Report: Data Visualization

Because of the varying ethnicities and history of colonization in North Africa, there are a plethora of languages that people use to communicate. We have Arabic, French, and English as the most common languages in the region because they are taught in schools. I thought it would be important to analyze the data regarding different languages in the region, as well as the gender gap within each language, because the most commonly spoken language is most likely the language that is used in not only day-to-day communications but also media coverage as well.
I chose to use a stacked bar chart with negative and positive values to show the spread of languages among genders because it is a straightforward and interactive way to understand the distribution. Stacked bar charts are also great at highlighting contrasting values, so the viewer can identify a pattern in the data points quickly while analyzing the bars.
