Apart from Google and the main social media networks like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter, the most visited website in the country of Singapore is Wikipedia. Because widespread availability of internet access and technology have made it a popular source of information for the general public, Wikipedia is prominent in this country. However, the exact extent to which Singaporeans use Wikipedia is difficult to quantify given factors such as digital literacy and access to other information sources. Wikipedia does provide page views for each article, however the website does not release exact information on the number of users in Singapore specifically. Nevertheless, it has long remained one of the most popular websites in Singapore, as it has globally. Currently, there are 362,922 Wikipedia articles in Bahasa Melayu (Malay), Singapore’s official language. The English language version of Wikipedia is also widely used in this country, along with local language editions such as Chinese and Tamil, making it even more accessible and popular.

There exists a community of volunteer Wikipedia editors and contributors in Singapore who help maintain and improve the accuracy and quality of articles related to the country and its culture. In the case of the Singaporean Wikipedia, the articles are likely edited by a mix of locals and people from other countries who are interested in or knowledgable about Singapore. These articles and pages contain significant amounts of information on Singapore, including but not limited to: culture, history, government, geography, education, and economy. It is important to note that because Singapore has a highly developed and successful free-market economy, information on the country is vast, refined, and accessible. Therefore, Wikipedia does well at consolidating that information onto the country page and other relevant articles on Singapore.
