110 Country Report: Wikipedia
I was not able to find really anything on how big Jamaica is on Wikipedia and whether Jamaicans use this as a reliable and accessible source or not. The only information I could find is from viewing the Jamaica Wikipedia page as a whole. Overall there are 2.8 million people in Jamaica when looking at the population. As of the past 60 days, the page has gotten 313,902 page views while having a total of about 752 page watchers. However, this information does not really speak to the usage of Wikipedia in Jamaica as much as just generally its relevance for people to search up as a country overall.
There are 11 different content tabs for Jamaica, with several having sub-headers under the general sections. There are a wide variety of almost 300 pages linked outside of Wikipedia used as references where readers can go for additional information as well as a large amount of other Wikipedia pages linked to more information about certain topics or events, so there is also a good amount of additional Wikipedia pages related to Jamaica besides just their main one. Jamaica’s official language is English, so there is nothing to compare in another language for Jamaica in regards to any disparities between the two for information. They have a variety of sections about the history, culture, government, and many more that give a pretty decent it seems overview on a variety of basic topics that someone would want to know about any country in general, and they seem pretty flushed out also. There are some topics on the talk page but not a large amount.
In the history of the Jamaica Wikipedia page, there have been 9,405 total edits of the page. When looking at these edits as a whole 63.4% of them have been done by 5,967 different accounts. This is a decent amount of variety when looking at who has been editing the information on the page. This comes out to about 2.2 edits per user on average, so that is not too bad when looking at different sources of information. Lastly, when looking at how much time is in between edits, is it an average of 0.8 days. This means that information is updated pretty frequently, hopefully making the Jamaica Wikipedia page as up-to-date a s accurate as it pretty much can be, which is ideal when looking at information as you want it to be as current as it can be.
