This article discusses the developments and involvement in Jamaica in developing the solarization of an agricultural pumping system. This project is primarily being run by the International Solar Alliance, which is based in India is very much spearheading this whole project whose overall work collaborated with governments to improve energy access and security, particularly through solar means, and whose goal is to use these to be more suitable and tradition ultimately to a carbon-neutral future. While not everybody is happy with the ISA’s involvement in this ordeal, they believe it is incredibly beneficial for Jamaica.

The project’s main focus will be on rural areas whose power abilities can not sustain the agriculture needed for the livelihood of Jamaican citizens. In the long run, they also want to increase solarized projects’ usage in health care and educational facilities. Even though some people are upset about the more global involvement in such a local project, the impact that this project could have is necessary. An example used to illustrate this was the number of people who lost jobs in Jamaica because of the COVID’19 pandemic who then had to turn to farming and agricultural work and means. Solarisation was a pivotal and sustainable way to support that change.

Overall I choose to cover this article because of the complex pros and cons it shows on how globally countries are involved and interconnected in many ways and the need and growth in sustainability needed for our future.
