It looks like trollies are commonly used for public transport, is this true? or are they more for decorative purposes?

This tram is in the İstiklal Avenue in Taksim Square. It symbolizes istanbul’s historic structure. The other trams, looks like yours.

Melis, are these commonly used, or are they more for visitors to the city?

Ali İhsan is right. Purpose of this trams, show to tourists the İstiklal Avenue. It’s very long street and hard to walk on it. Because of crowd. Yes, I don’t like crowd 🙂

OK, good to know. Public transit here certainly isn’t usually that pretty either!

I think I can answer this question. This tram is symbolic for the people of Istanbul. Uses mostly tourists and refugees in these days.

So, I’m curious. I don’t really see a “station” per say. Do you just wait at a specific stop for the tram, or is there an actual building?

I am getting the impression locals in Istanbul don’t use the trams very often. Is this true? Also, do locals prefer the bus system or does everyone walk?

Right Lauren! At least not from what we’re hearing on this page.
