Chapter 8: Riley talks about where she gets help when citing

I primarily used MLA format for citations while I was in high school, so learning about different citation formats is a little difficult for me.  The format you use can affect the way you write your in-text citations, as well as your bibliography page.

I found the graphic provided in Choosing & Using Sources that highlights differences in citation styles to be super-helpful. I frequently look it over when citing sources in my own research papers.

I also use Purdue OWL all the time. Purdue University’s resource is extremely useful and provides explanations for how to cite very specific sources. I also frequently contact my subject librarian to help me with citations.

To be honest, I struggle with citing because of the intricacies involved in it. Depending on what kind of source you’re citing, the rules for the citation can be difficult.
I often run into situations where I am trying to cite an article without an author or trying to cite FBI records, and it can get confusing.

I’ve found Choosing & Using Sources to be a helpful reminder in how to properly cite so that you can (1) avoid getting in trouble and (2) give credit where credit is due.
